This unique provision supports pupils with a range of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including behavioural and social challenges, as well as additional specific learning difficulties.

  • Carry out regular checks of equipment, machinery, and building infrastructure, reporting any concerns or repair needs.
  • Maintain the school's heating, lighting, and alarm systems, ensuring they function correctly.
  • Take responsibility for the upkeep of external areas, including playgrounds, car parks, pathways, and green spaces.

Repairs and Contractor Liaison

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks and minor repairs to ensure the site remains in good condition.
  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialised maintenance work, ensuring tasks are completed to high standards.
  • Oversee the ordering, control, and safe storage of cleaning materials and other supplies.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Implement and uphold the school's health and safety policies, ensuring all site activities comply with legislation.
  • Maintain accurate health and safety records, documenting inspections, training, and other compliance activities.
  • Arrange for regular inspections and additional specialised checks when necessary.
  • Conduct health and safety inductions for all new staff and pupils and provide regular refresher training.

Health & Safety Key Tasks

  • Implement the school's health and safety policy effectively across the site.
  • Document all health and safety actions, maintain updated records and complete any required actions post-inspections.
  • Undertake health and safety training and stay informed of best practices and requirements.
  • Keep site health and safety information accessible and up to date for all school staff.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have experience in site management, facilities management, or a similar role, ideally within a school or SEN setting. They should be a highly organised and proactive individual, able to identify and address maintenance needs promptly and effectively. Strong communication skills are essential, along with a solid understanding of health and safety protocols.

  • Self-Management and Organisational Skills - Capable of managing own workload, prioritising tasks, and ensuring all responsibilities are fulfilled in a timely manner.
  • Problem-Solving Skills - Resourceful in addressing unexpected maintenance issues and finding solutions that maintain the safety and functionality of the school.
