MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT (TRADES AND LABOUR)Carbon60 is looking to recruit a Maintenance Assistant to carry out general maintenance duties and provide support to technical and building services teams within the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.ROLE:Maintenance Assistant (Trades and Labour)PAY RATE:£15.50 per hour (DBS required)CONTRACT TYPE:Fixed Term (3rd November - 23rd December 2025)LOCATION:Royal Infirmary EdinburghTHE ROLE: The Maintenance Assistant will support the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across the hospital site. This includes assisting skilled trades with maintenance, repairs, and installation work, as well as undertaking general building and site upkeep duties. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform general and planned maintenance tasks within your skillset. Carry out reactive maintenance and minor repairs to building fabric where required. Assist trades staff in performing maintenance, testing, and inspection works. Work on fire dampers and associated systems across the site. Ensure site safety during adverse weather by supporting snow clearing, gritting, and other relevant duties. Maintain accurate servicing and maintenance records in line with statutory requirements. Uphold health and safety policies and ensure compliance at all times. Liaise effectively with clients and other team members to maintain good working relationships. Undertake required training to maintain and enhance service delivery. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: Previous experience in general maintenance, building services, or construction background preferred (training provided). Good understanding of health and safety practices. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Reliable, presentable, and professional approach to work DBS certification required.
