we are looking for experienced Platers / Fabricators to join a major long-term defence project. This is high-impact, heavy-industry work at the forefront of UK shipbuilding. You'll be part of an established fabrication team, building and shaping large, complex steel structures. Salary: £38,622 + up to 33% shift allowance + overtime Shift Patterns: Mon-Thurs days or nights, or a 3-day compressed weekend shift (Fri-Sun) Responsibilities: Heavy fabrication and plating of structural steel sections. Forming, cutting, burning, and shaping plate to tight tolerances using heavy workshop equipment. Assembling, aligning, and tack-welding structural units, bulkheads, foundations, and outfitting components. Reading and working from complex technical and fabrication drawings. Fitting a variety of ship structures, including bulkheads, deck structures, penetrations, supports, and access systems. Using oxy-acetylene cutting gear, grinders, plasma equipment, and other fabrication tools safely and effectively. Ensuring all work meets strict defence, safety, and quality standards. What you'll bring: Recognised Trade Papers/ Modern Apprenticeship Certificate essential (L3 SVQ/NVQ or L3 C&G) Strong background in heavy fabrication, shipbuilding, offshore, oil & gas, or large-scale industrial engineering.
