Position Summary:

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating robust and innovative mechanical designs for naval vessels and marine infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles and their application in harsh marine environments.


This role is based in the South West, England.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize mechanical systems and components including propulsion systems, mechanical linkages, and fluid systems.
  • Utilise advanced simulation tools to model stress, dynamics, and thermal properties of mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with vendors and fabrication teams to ensure components meet stringent quality and durability standards.
  • Lead prototyping and testing phases to validate designs and make iterative improvements based on performance data.
  • Provide expert advice and technical guidance on mechanical design issues to project teams and stakeholders.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design within the naval or marine sectors.
  • Expertise in using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of material science and engineering analytics related to marine applications.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with varying scopes.
