Role Summary


The Bid and Proposals manager will support the SVP Business Development and the wider team in securing new projects globally.


Key Responsibilities


  • Research and identify potential projects through various channels like public tenders, private invitations, and market analysis
  • Analyse Requests for Information (RFIs) or Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to determine their feasibility and fit with the company’s services and capabilities
  • Present bids to the SVP and wider SLT to pursue based on strategic alignment, potential profitability and resource availability
  • Collaborate across the business (e.g. BD, strategy, finance, commercial, operations) to gather the necessary information and inputs for the proposal.
  • Create comprehensive and compelling proposals that meet the client's requirements in collaboration with teams
  • Support the development of accurate cost estimates and budgets for the proposals
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations to gain a better understanding of project requirements and establish relationships
  • Manage and respond to client queries and requests for clarifications during the bidding process.
  • Gather and incorporate feedback from previous bids to continuously improve proposal quality.
  • Identify and assess potential risks associated with the bid and proposed project as well as identify mitigation responses to risks
  • Keep detailed records of all proposals, bid documents, correspondence, and feedback
  • Maintain and update a database of bid submissions and outcomes for future reference and strategic planning.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve the bidding and proposal development process and document this
  • Train and mentor team members on best practices and new methodologies in bid and proposal management.

Education and Certifications:


  • Proven experience in managing the bid and proposal process, ideally within the construction sector.
  • A bachelors degree in construction management, civil engineering, business administration, or a related field. (Desired)
  • Certifications in project management or bid management (Advantageous)


Desired Experience and Skills


  • Proficient in writing clear, concise, and compelling proposals
  • Strong ability to develop accurate and detailed cost estimates and possess financial acumen as well as understanding of forecasting and cost management.
  • Proficient in setting timelines, coordinating tasks where required, and meeting deadlines.
  • Understanding of construction processes, methodologies, and industry standards
  • Ability to identify, analyse, and mitigate risks associated with bids and projects.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in using Indesign and Creative Suite
  • Ability to maintain and update software related to contacts, bids and proposals (such as Hubspot)
  • Experience of using and bidding using US federal (e.g. SAM) and UK government (Crown Commercial Services) portals is desirable
  • Experience in engaging with clients, understanding their needs, and building strong relationships in support of business development as required
