Job OverviewMaintain, manage, modify and update the aircraft mission systems to ensure the maximum serviceability for the operational crews. This involves both the on and off aircraft activities building, installing and testing the mission systems; including cameras, radars and satellite communications with the associated mission computer connections/integration alongside the software specialists. New Mission system design, fabrication and installation in conjunction with the Part-145 engineers to keep DEA competitive and current in the ISR arena. This role specifically will be seen as the electrical/electronics subject matter expert within the Mission Systems team.Key Responsibilities:Design electrical/electronic aspects of updated mission systems to be integrated onto the various aircraft types.Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, applications, systems management tools and cloud infrastructure within the laboratory environmentUpdate electronic logs of mission system equipment and ensure it is accurately trackedPerform network maintenance and system upgrades including remote fixes, patches, hot fixes and security configurationsPerform scheduled maintenance/upgrades on removed mission systemsProvide Level 2 / 3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issuesDeploy when required to recover mission systems off site under the supervision of B2 Engineers as requiredWork closely with B2 Engineers supporting the mission system installation and continuing airworthiness of the DEA ISR fleet.Conduct bench filter testing of systems assets in the Systems Integration Lab (SIL)Assist with the fabrication and installation of new aircraft mission systems from concept to full aircraft release; in conjunction with the Software and Part-145 engineersProvide out-of-hours Mission System support (on an on-call rota)Ensure that all maintenance performed is in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.Complete technical training courses as available and in agreement with the company’s strategyEnsure that all tasks are carried out with the DEA H&S policy paramount in mind.Carry out any other tasks as and when assigned by the Mission Systems Operations ManagerSkills, Knowledge & Expertise:Continually managing pressure, conflicting demands and prioritising tasks/workload to meet deadlines.Strong IT/CAD software knowledge and skill level, including PCB development.Demonstrate a positive attitude to work and operate as part of a team with the ability to motivate colleagues with enthusiasm.Calm in time pressurised situations.Adopt a flexible and adaptable approach to work.Communicate clearly and effectively.Engineering hand skills and ability to use test equipment for bench test; such as Oscilloscope, Signal generator and Multimeter.Aircraft standard wiring and hand skills desirableProactive ‘can do’ approach to problem solving and providing creative solutions.Personal Attributes:Highly visible within the company taking proactive steps to manage your profile and approachability.Retains a positive and constructive mindset when faced with challenging problems and issues demonstrating effective leadership.Demonstrates a proactive approach in how their actions and decisions affect colleagues and business outcomes.Builds high quality, credible and trusted relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders.Seeks and values input from others across the business when problem solving and recommending courses of action.Methodical with an attention to detail.Job BenefitsBupa healthcareCycle to workOctopus salary sacrifice EV scheme4% Pension20 Days leave + Bank holidaysAbout DEA Aviation LtdDEA and our sister company ESAO are a world leading specialist technology-led provider of complex aerial data acquisition services.A pioneer in airborne data gathering, DEA/ESAO use ground-breaking techniques and the most advanced and innovative technologies in the industry to help you answer complex questions and make informed decisions in real time.
