Financial Controller


We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to join our Finance team. In this pivotal role, you will take full responsibility for all aspects of the Finance department in the UK, working both strategically and hands-on as an operating partner to the Managing Director and the senior management team. You will oversee the financial health of the company (circa £300m turnover and 122 employees), ensuring robust financial management and reporting, and that the business fulfills all its corporate and legal financial obligations.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop the finance team (7 direct reports), promoting Kubota values and ensuring high performance.
  • Present financial results, highlight risks and opportunities, and offer strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Manage tax compliance and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting, including IFRS, management accounts, and statutory accounts.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, manage working capital and cash flow forecasts, and provide financial insights to the company and its departments.
  • Prepare and submit annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, recommending cost reduction strategies and ensuring proper allocation and management of business unit budgets.
  • Manage credit risk and maintain internal controls, ensuring Japan SOX compliance.
  • Manage internal and external audits, address deficiencies, and continuously improve financial controls.
  • Regularly review and improve finance policies, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance and efficiency, addressing issues promptly.
  • Lead annual insurance renewals, manage the fixed assets register and depreciation, and oversee intercompany relationships, loans, and reconciliations.
  • Promote health and safety, mentor colleagues, ensure policy compliance, and improve employee engagement
  • Undertake any other reasonable requests and duties commensurate with the level and responsibilities of this senior leadership position.



Requirements:


  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), with minimum 10 years’ experience. Ideally Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related education.
  • Proven track record in financial leadership role and line management role (minimum 5 years).
  • In-depth knowledge of the entire Finance function (ideally within a complex matrix organisation)
  • Strong IT skills, including extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Keen analytical mind, exceptional attention to detail, and strong team building and people management skills.
  • Ability to be based in Thame, Oxfordshire office minimum 3 days per week.
  • Flexibility to accommodate occasional travel within the UK, Europe and internationally.
  • Desirable to have IFRS/SOX experience, SAP or similar systems, and Internal and external audit process management.
