OverviewOverviewThe Azure Fiber team in Romsey is seeking dynamic candidates with energy and a passion for innovation to join our team. You will be working on fabrication technologies for radically novel optical fibers, including glass preform manufacture, optical fiber drawing and associated processes.The role will involve close interaction with the Engineering and Operations teams to take new fabrication methods for next generation fibers and turn them into robust and reliable processes that can be successfully transferred into volume manufacture by the production team. Additionally, you will be required to support the scaling up of the new fabrication facility to meet customer demand and company ambition. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.ResponsibilitiesDrives team to ensure yield and continuous improvements into mass production and prioritize manufacturing focus through use of process control tools and analysis of measurement data to identify trends and correlations Lead activities between the Engineering and Operations groups in order to manage materials supply and quality of incoming material.Lead process improvement projects from prototype phase to production phaseLeads the development and management of documentation in support of process technology, operating procedures and process control requirements.Design and lead experiments to perform accelerated failure analysis.Root cause analysis of defects and failure modes.Technical project managementAbility to integrate into multidisciplinary and cross-functional teamsHands-on, creative approach to problem solving and the ability to translate engineering requests into working solutionsQualificationsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in manufacturing, engineering, physics, chemistry, or related field experience in a manufacturing environment OR Master's Degree in manufacturing, engineering, physics, chemistry, or related field experience in a manufacturing environment OR equivalent experiencePreferred Qualifications:Doctorate in manufacturing, engineering, physics, chemistry, or related field AND experience in a manufacturing environmentOR equivalent experiencePatent or track record of engineering excellencyThis position will be open for a minimum of 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer.
