Youll join a busy and dynamic multi-professional service of over 25 specialists working across a range of SEND areas. This is a creative and rewarding role supporting children and young people who experience emotional and behavioral challenges often linked to trauma anxiety or difficulties engaging with education.Working in schools across Southend youll deliver targeted interventions model nurturing approaches and help staff develop trauma-informed relationship-based strategies that re-engage students in learning.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide SEMH-focused support for children and young people in primary and secondary schools including those experiencing anxiety low self-esteem or school refusal.Deliver 1:1 and small group nurture-based interventions that promote emotional regulation resilience and re-engagement.Work collaboratively with teachers SENCOs and pastoral teams to develop and embed trauma-informed and restorative practices.Support schools to understand and respond effectively to challenging behaviour and the underlying needs driving it.Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team contributing to a coordinated response for students with complex needs.Bring creativity empathy and flexibility to help develop personalised age-appropriate strategies for hard-to-reach learners.N:B This post is term time only so the advertised salary will be pro rata.What youll need to succeedTo be successful in this role you should have:HLTA status or equivalent qualification.Experience supporting children and young people with SEMH needs particularly within nurture or therapeutic learning environments.Strong understanding of attachment trauma and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).Proven ability to deliver structured interventions and engage students who find education challenging.Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in working collaboratively with a range of professionals.What youll get in returnWhen joining the council you can enjoy a range of benefits including: 25 days annual leave flexible working and excellent training and development opportunities.
