Overview

Nyke Energy Services Ltd, an employee owned BMS company (via an Employee Ownership Trust). We now have an exciting opportunity for a BMS Engineer to join our team.


  • Location: Remotely Based but reporting to our Oswestry office

  • Purpose: You will play an important role in the commissioning, operation, maintenance and upgrading of building energy management systems. Working with other BMS professionals, you will work on a variety of projects ranging from small retrofit and refurbishment works to major new builds, as well as service and maintenance work.


What will you be doing?

We’re offering an excellent opportunity to lead the commissioning of new systems as well as undertaking and supporting our existing clients through various service and upgrade works.  Your day to day duties will include:  


  • Lead all aspects of commissioning BMS projects including software creation, running of plant, checking of field devices, graphics generation and client training.
  • Responsible for completion of commissioning documentation, site reports and software backups
  • Liaise with project team on a daily basis and provide regular updates on the progress of the project
  • Attend a variety of sites to carry out thorough checks on the system, attend to any problems and resolve issues
  • Liaise with customers, give feedback and fill out reports with appropriate detail.
  • Be fully conversant with BMS systems, capabilities and limitations in order to assist in the correct installation and operation of each bespoke system.
  • Take responsibility for delivery of routine maintenance of the BEMS system in accordance with the supplier i.e. Trend/Tridium/ABB Cylon etc specifications
  • Carry out inspections of existing BEMS installations, update record and working drawings, prepare reports and briefs for upgrading or modification where needed
  • Investigate the operation of the BEMS systems to ensure the optimum operation of critical services throughout the business
  • Investigate operation of the system with particular reference to energy efficiency, identify energy saving strategies, consult with colleagues regarding implementation, monitor and report on effectiveness of changes
  • Liaise with building occupants to understand their needs and issues, balancing these requirements with the need for energy cost savings and reductions in environmental emissions
  • Be health and safety conscious at all times, filling in risk assessments and wearing any relevant PPE.

Experience and Qualifications of the ideal candidate would be:

  • Electrical technician qualification or equivalent; Electrical engineering qualification, degree or equivalent is high desirable but also be able to demonstrate accuracy, attention to detail and problem solving skills.
  • Buildings-related qualification, degree or equivalent desirable
  • Experience in BEMS maintenance work and ideally be manufacturer trained in Trend, Tridium, ABB Cylon or Siemens BMS systems
  • Full UK driving licence
