Annual salary: up to 40434.45Gas Engineer Location: RotherhamSalary: Up to 40434.45 per annum plus company vehicle and fuel cardContract Type: Full time Permanent 42.5hrs per week Monday to FridayAbout the Role:Were looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Gas Engineer to join our team in Rotherham delivering high-quality gas servicing repairs and installations across our clients housing stock. Your role will be vital in ensuring that all gas appliances and systems are safe compliant and fit for continued use.Youll carry out a range of domestic gas works including boiler diagnostics repairs servicing and installations. Accuracy attention to detail and a commitment to safety are essential as your work directly impacts the wellbeing of residents staff and the wider public. Youll be expected to work independently and as part of a team maintaining high standards of customer service and compliance at all times.Key Responsibilities:Carry out servicing repairs and installations of domestic gas appliances including boilers cookers and firesDiagnose faults and complete remedial works efficiently and safelyPerform landlord gas safety inspections and issue certificates (CP12s)Ensure all work complies with current gas regulations and internal proceduresRespond to emergency call-outs and urgent repairs when requiredRecord all work completed using handheld devices or job management systemsLiaise with tenants housing officers and internal teams to ensure clear communicationMaintain van stock levels and order materials as neededIdentify and report any safeguarding concerns or property hazardsWork collaboratively with other trades to complete multi-skill jobsParticipate in toolbox talks training sessions and safety briefingsEnsure PPE is worn and health & safety procedures are followed at all timesSupport apprentices or junior engineers when requiredKey CriteriaQualified to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Gas Installation and MaintenanceHold valid ACS certification (e.g. CCN1 CENWAT CKR1 HTR1)Experience in domestic boiler servicing fault diagnosis and installationGood understanding of electrical safe isolation and basic wiring principlesKnowledge of current gas safety legislation and compliance standardsExperience working in social housing or local authority environments (preferred)Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approachAbility to work independently and as part of a teamComfortable using handheld devices or digital job management systemsStrong attention to detail and commitment to safe working practicesFlexible and willing to travel across properties and attend out-of-hours calloutsFull UK driving licenceBenefits we can offer you:25 days annual leave plus bank holidaysAnnual Mears Fun Day - Our annual Fun Day is organised as a massive thank you from the Executive team for all the hard workVolunteering Leave - Mears supports employees to undertake paid volunteering in the community in support of our social value commitment.Staff perks with Mears Rewards - discounts of up to 10% weekly groceries holidays eye test vouchers Share save scheme plus much moreFamily friendly policiesCompany Vehicle and Fuel CardAccess to EAP Counselling sessionsAll our roles require candidates to have the entitlement to work within the UK Mears does not currently offer visa sponsorship.To drive a Mears vehicle you must be aged over 21 have held your licence over 3 months and have less than 9 points.Candidates should be aware that all our roles are subject to relevant Background Identity & Security checks before commencement of employment.Apply below or to discuss your application further; contact:Francesca Swan ()If you need any help with your application process we are here to support you.
