As a Director's Support for a busy and complex area of DWP Digital you will work with the Senior Leadership Team to provide an efficient and consistent service across the function.

Youll be expected to build a good understanding of the strategic priorities across the function and the various programmes of work, taking a keen interest and using that insight to plan and prioritise on behalf of the Senior Leadership Team.This understanding will help you to anticipate any issues before they arise.

Youll have responsibility for diary management to make sure that priority meetings and events take place and are aligned to strategic priorities.

Youll make sure that any member of the Senior Leadership Team you support is fully prepared for planned events i.e. meetings and has all the papers and briefings needed, arranging travel where appropriate and for any urgent unplanned requests; ensuring you have the wider knowledge to provide information at short notice.

Youll also have responsibility for a Senior Leader's daily inbox, acting as initial point of contact for all general enquiries and ensuring detailed requests are communicated in a timely manner, building and forming relationships quickly.

Youll act as secretariat for meetings, taking responsibility for capturing actions and ensuring they are regularly reviewed to a satisfactory conclusion.

Youll help develop and coordinate key messages and briefings to be delivered by understanding people priorities, whats happening across DWP and Digital, and within your functional area.

Person specification

When giving details in your employment history and personal statement you should highlight your experience in line with essential criteria below:
  • *Lead Criteria: Demonstrable experience in providing support services to senior leaders including anticipating issues before they arise and responding to unplanned challenges.
  • Experience of supporting a large leadership team through co-ordination of the leadership team meetings and events.
  • Experience of building effective relationships including the ability to influence senior stakeholders in the support of business area outcomes and objectives.
  • Experience of managing conflicting demands and priorities whilst working in a high profile, fast paced environment, ensuring tasks are prioritised in line with strategic objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to use varying methods of communication and evidence of summarising key messages and recording and tracking information.
  • Experience of working within a large Digital organisation and familiar with Agile ways of working and associated IT and collaboration skills required for this role, eg - Office365, Microsoft Word, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, Loop.

*An initial sift may be conducted using the lead criteria stated above. Candidates who pass the initial sift will progress to a full sift.

Salary Information

Pay for this role is from 35,711 to 36,545.

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

Stage 1: Application

The sift panel will use the information in your employment history and personal statement to assess your experience, skills and knowledge against the essential criteria above.
