Head of Consumer

HEAD OF CONSUMER

Full Time.  

Based: Harwell with the opportunity for flexible home working 1-2 days a week.

JOB PURPOSE

To drive category-specific project planning and delivery at OPD, while actively contributing to business development and strategic growth within the Consumer sector. This role involves leading teams to deliver exceptional client experiences and identifying opportunities to expand and enhance OPD's market presence in the respective category.

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for a strategic thinker with deep expertise and a proven track record in Consumer product design. Your passion for delivering top-tier design solutions, and your ability to manage client relationships and lead teams should be demonstrable through past successes.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Industry Expertise: Apply your extensive knowledge in the Consumer sector to guide projects and provide expert advice to clients.
2. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs and delivering tailored services.
3. Project Leadership: Lead project teams to ensure timely delivery, profitability and high-quality outputs.
4. Business Development: Seek growth opportunities within your sector and contribute strategically to business expansion.
5. Team Collaboration: Foster a cohesive approach with other sector leads, ensuring aligned and integrated client project execution.
6. Market Analysis: Stay current with industry trends and innovations, leveraging this knowledge to benefit client projects and evolve OPD’s offerings.
7. Team Development: Acting as a mentor for selected individuals across the business and playing an active role in the development of OPD staff.
8. Leadership: Playing an active role as a member of the Senior Management Team at OPD.   

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• A proven record of at least ten years of delivering high-quality projects in the Consumer sector.
• Strong project management skills and the capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish robust relationships with both clients and team members.
• Experience in writing proposals, managing budgets, and inspiring teams.
• Consultancy experience in the full product lifecycle, from concept through to production, within the consumer sector.
• Strategic thinker who can develop, implement and deliver on business goals.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

• A background in product design and/or engineering, specifically within the Consumer sector, underpinned by strong CAD capabilities.
• Familiarity with the ISO 9001 standard, as applicable.
