Job Description: Director of Children’s Ministries/Program Director

Directly Reports to: Senior Pastor

Overall Responsibilities:

  1. Envisions programs needed to meet God’s plan for AUMC and assists in integrating these programs into the life of the church
  2. Organizes and coordinates activities of all children, Nursery – Grade 5

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  1. Assists in the development of programs for AUMC
  2. Recruits, coordinates and encourages volunteers to minister to children, which includes Sunday School, VBS, and Nursery
  3. Trains teachers for ministry to children
  4. Attends scheduled meetings (Including evenings as required)
  5. Reaches out to the community to make them aware of church programs that are available

Additional Responsibilities/Programs:

  • Evaluates program effectiveness on an ongoing basis with staff and leadership
  • Orders all approved program materials requested by staff and volunteers
  • Coordinates VBS program
  • Writes articles for bulletins and newsletters
  • Oversees nursery program: recruits and trains attendants, monitors supplies
  • Coordinates Children’s Church volunteers, lessons, and supplies
  • Creates activities/programs that serve children’s needs
  • Assists with different fundraisers throughout the year

Additional Job Information:

  1. Consults with co-workers and other Church committees
  2. Works collaboratively with a variety of ministry leaders, staff, and congregational volunteers to effectively unite with and evaluate other church ministries

Compensation: Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications

Qualifications (necessary skills and experience required):

  1. Experience in working with children and their families
  2. Good organizational skills
  3. Ability to work with others
  4. Proficient with computer (Microsoft Word, Windows, Social Media, etc.)
