DescriptionROLE SUMMARYThe Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care is seeking to appoint one member to the Board of NHS Tayside.This is an exciting time of transformational change for NHS Tayside and this is your chance to take on a rewarding and worthwhile opportunity and be part of the team who are designing and delivering changes which are improving performance and are developing the capability and capacity to return NHS Tayside to its place as one of the most innovative and best performing Health Boards in the UK.Applications are invited from a wide range of people who have an interest in public service and are committed to the NHS in Scotland. Please pass on details of these opportunities to anyone else you think may be interested.NHS Tayside is responsible for meeting the health needs and improving the health and wellbeing of over 400000 people living in Tayside and provides a comprehensive range of primary community-based and acute hospital services for the populations of Angus Dundee City and Perth & Kinross.NHS Tayside is looking for one new member to join its Board. As a non-executive member of this Board you will have a key role in supporting the delivery of the organisations strategic direction in addition to contributing to scrutinising performance and discharging governance and accountability functions. All successful candidates will be required to sit on one of the local Integration Joint Boards (IJB).NHS Scotlands values are at the heart of everything that we do. We particularly encourage applications from individuals from ethnic minority communities who are currently under-represented on the NHS Tayside Board.REMUNERATION AND TIME COMMITMENTThe remuneration for the role is 28704 per annum for two days per week which is non-pensionable. You would also receive allowances at rates set centrally for relevant travel and subsistence costs. All reasonable receipted dependant-carer expenses including childcare and for support required to help you carry out your duties effectively will also be reimbursed where applicable.2 days per week (16 hours)This time will be a mix of daytime Board meetings committee meetings reading documents and attending stakeholder events. You will need to have flexibility in order to attend at a greater frequency subject to the Boards ongoing business needs.APPOINTMENT DETAILSThe term of appointment will be for up to 4 years.When a term comes to an end the skills the Board requires will be reassessed. If you satisfy the requirements of the new person specification at that time and there is evidence of your effective performance Scottish Ministers may consider reappointing you for a further term.
