Criminal Defence SolicitorLocation: Manchester (Hybrid post-probation)Salary: Negotiable (based on experience)Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am - 5 pm (35 hours per week) A leading UK law firm specialising in motoring criminal defence is seeking a Criminal Defence Solicitor for their Manchester office. The firm is well-regarded for its expertise in serious motoring offences, offering high-quality legal representation to private clients (no legal aid). The role involves focusing on motoring defence, serious civil litigation, and prosecutions. Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert legal advice and build robust defences for clients.
  • Manage your own caseload and liaise with barristers.
  • Instruct external counsel for court hearings and collaborate on legal strategy.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant laws.
  • Participate in out-of-hours phone support on a rotational basis.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience in motoring law or a similar field, handling your own caseload.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and IT skills.
  • Experience with Proclaim or similar case management systems.
  • A proactive, client-focused attitude with attention to detail.
