The Opportunity
This top 100 national law firm are looking for an Associate, Senior Associate or Salaried Partner to join the firms Dispute Resolution & Litigation team. The role presents an opportunity for career progression as they grow this area of the practice.
The successful candidate will run a caseload of primarily contentious Trusts matters, with some contentious probate work. Ideally applicants should have a STEP or ACTAPS qualification and the ability to do homegrown work in these areas.
Role Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of contentious trusts and probate matters, including will disputes, inheritance claims, trust disputes, and contested probate cases.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to provide accurate and strategic advice to clients.
- Draft legal documents, including letters of claim, pleadings, witness statements, and court submissions.
- Attend hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations on behalf of clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates and managing expectations effectively.
- Keep abreast of developments in contentious trusts and probate law and contribute to the continuous improvement of the firm's legal services.
Person Specification
- Minimum 3 years' PQE
- Proven track record of handling complex contentious trusts cases from inception to resolution.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, case law, and procedural rules.
- Excellent drafting skills with the ability to prepare clear and persuasive legal documents.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Commitment to providing high-quality legal services and achieving the best possible outcomes for clients.
- Keen interest in marketing and business development.
