Hourly Pay Rate: £55.31 (PAYE) or £70 (Umbrella)
The client is a leader in the development of Defence Systems. The Planning and Control Software team produces desktop solutions for planning activities on a range of systems. They additionally facilitate the integration of products into third-party planning applications. Additional areas of focus include maintenance and diagnostic tools as well as bespoke software components for launchers.
Position Overview:
We are currently looking to recruit experienced, self-starting Software Engineers for positions in Bristol. These positions are completely on-site based. Applicants need to be highly proficient in C++ and/or Core Java. This is initially a 6-month contract at £70/hour via an umbrella company.
Important Note:
All projects are UK Eyes Only and require employees to achieve the appropriate security clearance relevant to the role.
Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Collaborate with the project team in the designing, developing, and proving activities for a launcher sub-system.
- Engineering Activities: Undertake a full range of activities in line with relevant company processes and standards.
- Feature Ownership: Take ownership of software features and ensure their successful implementation.
- System Integration: Participate in system integration activities within a virtual test environment and potentially with representative and deliverable hardware.
- Full Development Lifecycle: Depending on skills and experience, involvement could span the entire development lifecycle from architectural specification to testing and verification.
- Documentation Support: Assist in the production of project documentation.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Software Development: Capable of designing, developing, and proving complex software products.
- Technical Communication: Ability to communicate technical issues with engineers and stakeholders from different skill areas.
- Agile Team Collaboration: Experience working as part of a collaborative Agile team.
- Software Development Practices: Knowledge of software development practices and processes.
- CI/CD/DevOps Toolsets: Familiarity with CI/CD/DevOps toolsets, particularly Jira, GitHub, and Jenkins.
- Programming Languages: Proficiency in C++ or Core Java (knowledge of both is desirable).
- Additional Knowledge (Desirable): Experience with Java FX, QT, MISRA, and Google Test.
