We are currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join a growing main contractor as an Assistant Estimator. They specialise in new build projects up to about £15million for residential, retail and commercial properties in and around London.


As an Assistant Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the pre-construction process. Working closely with their Pre Construction Director you will gain excellent training as they have been in the industry for a number of years and enjoy mentoring people.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating accurate project bids and cost estimates
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to gather necessary information
  • Analyse project specifications and blueprints to identify potential challenges and develop innovative solutions
  • Maintain and update the company's cost database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date pricing
  • Prepare comprehensive and detailed take offs of materials and labour required for projects
  • Support the estimating team in documenting and organizing project-related information
  • Assist in reviewing and negotiating subcontractor and vendor bids.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Strong proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of building materials, construction methods, and industry standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word
  • Familiarity with construction estimating software is a plus
  • Previous experience in construction estimation or related role is preferred, but not required
