Packaging TechnologistLeicestershire – On-site 5 days per weekAre you a detail-driven Packaging Technologist with a passion for innovation, problem-solving and bringing new packaging concepts to life?I’m supporting a leading UK food manufacturer in their search for a talented Packaging Technologist to join their Technical team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of a fast-paced bakery site, playing a key role in the introduction, optimisation and compliance of all packaging used across the business.About The RoleAs Packaging Technologist, you’ll act as the central link between Development, Technical, Process, Specifications and external suppliers. You’ll ensure all new and amended packaging is successfully launched, fully compliant, and fit for purpose, while also being the go-to problem solver for day-to-day packaging challenges on site.You’ll lead packaging risk assessments, artwork checks, specification sign-offs and transit trials, and support the site through internal and external audits. Your expertise will directly influence performance, efficiency and customer satisfaction.What You’ll Be DoingIn this role, you’ll be the driving force behind all things packaging on site, from launching new materials to refining existing ones. You’ll work closely with suppliers, technical teams and NPD to make sure every packaging change is safe, compliant and ready for the real world.You’ll review artwork, support specification approvals, and oversee transit trials to ensure packaging performs exactly as it should. When issues arise, you’ll take ownership, troubleshoot with suppliers, and keep production moving smoothly. You’ll also help prepare the site for audits, maintain accurate packaging data, and support wider technical projects that keep standards high and customers happy.About YouYou’ll thrive in this role if you bring a solid understanding of packaging and how it functions within food manufacturing. Ideally, you’ll have experience from a packaging or technical environment, with the confidence to work closely with suppliers, technical teams and production.We’re looking for someone who’s organised, comfortable juggling multiple projects, and able to communicate clearly across teams. You’ll be confident with IT and everyday Microsoft tools, and you’ll naturally take ownership of your workload without needing to be pushed. Most importantly, you’ll be adaptable, resourceful and solutions focused.
