Diversion Child

Wisbech, United Kingdom Cambridgeshire County Council Full time

About the role

The Youth Justice Service is offering an exciting short term opportunity for two Diversion Support Workers to join their already well-established Diversion Support Team until the end of March . One post will be based in Cambridge, the other in the Fenland / Huntingdon area. You will be responsible for assessing, delivering interventions, and diverting young people, aged 10-17, generally not yet convicted or warned in relation to a criminal offence, but identified as being at risk of offending in the future.

Working very closely with the police is a crucial and fundamental part of this role. You will be providing support and intervention to identified children in particular areas that are considered policing hotspots. You will work alongside the Police Neighbourhood Teams who are focussing on hot spot areas and children and young people within these areas. You will be required to attend specific relevant Police meetings, as well as having a close relationship with designated Police Officers.

We are seeking two candidates who are passionate about safeguarding and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people and their families, diverting them away from potential difficulties, and promoting a more positive self-identity which is crucial at this stage of their lives.

These roles are fixed term until the end of March 25 at this stage given current grant funding agreed. It would be ideal to develop your skills in relation to partnership working in a close knit team, linked to the wider Youth Justice Service and also working closely alongside the Constabulary.

If you wish to discuss the roles further please contact Diversion Support Team Coordinator Jenny McGoldrick or Youth Justice Team Manager Heidi Kailipaka on . The closing date is Tuesday 7th May .

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
