Job description

You will play a pivotal role in representing the Agency at Magistrates� Court(s) as a Prosecutor, for vehicle tax and insurance related offences. We will look to you to engage with customers to educate and encourage compliance for these offences. You will visit number plate suppliers to conduct audits for this purpose. You will actively engage with stakeholders such as HMCTS, whilst working with other Enforcement Agencies such as the Police to raise awareness of number plate compliance.

You will manage a caseload, ensuring cases are progressed in a timely manner and you will present these in court.

This role will include occasional overnight stays to attend court. You will have access to a hire vehicle for this purpose.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in an exciting, varied role, where no two days are the same. This can be a challenging yet rewarding role, ensuring road safety and that regulations are followed. You will have the chance to network and build relationships with various stakeholders such as the Police, Local Authorities and Trading Standards.�

When not in court, you will primarily be working from home and will have the autonomy to manage your own workload, time and working environment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:�

Case management for vehicle enforcement cases at Prosecution stage.Checking facts and documents on DVLA systems to support making a decision on whether to proceed in court.Communicating with customers via correspondence on the phone and in person.Educating customers to ensure future compliance.Preparing cases for court, ensuring legislation and time scales are observed and maintained throughout Prosecution.Presenting cases on behalf of the Agency in Magistrates' Court.

When not in court, you will primarily be working from home, as there is currently no office base with this role.

Person specification

We are looking for someone who loves to work autonomously, will be comfortable to lone work and can use their own initiative. You are able to work in an organised and methodical manner and can effectively manage your own time to meet your day-to-day responsibilities.�

You are a confident driver with a full, clean UK driving licence and are comfortable with being on the road for long periods of time.

You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage with suppliers and enforcement agencies alike. You can build positive working relationships and strong rapport. You will be engaging and assertive, have the ability to express yourself in a clear and constructive manner, delivering the right messages and conducting challenging conversations when necessary. You deal with conflict productively and confidently and can remain focused under pressure.

You will have experience of working in an audit or enforcement role and are able to work within legislation and policies. This is an opportunity to develop your understanding of relevant legislation and policies with which you are not yet familiar as we will provide you with training to enable to perform well in your role.
