Principal Teacher 
Hermitage Park Primary School

Salary: £52,
Hours: 35 per week

Hermitage Park Primary School serves the communities of Leith, Restalrig and Lochend. The school is organised into 12 classes from P1-7 and has 30 children in the Nursery.

The school is led by a management team of a Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher, Principal Teacher and Business Manager. There are seventeen class teachers ably supported by a School Administrator, a School Support Assistant, an Early Years Officer, a team of Early Years Practitioners, Pupil Support Assistants and a Facilities Technician.

The remit of the Principal Teacher is expected to be:

A lead role in developing the school's approaches to meeting learners needs.
An organisational and teaching commitment for support of pupils.
Leading curriculum developments.
Contributing to the school's ongoing work to raise attainment for all learners.

The successful candidate will:

Be a highly skilled practitioner who is able to support, advise and collaborate with colleagues and partner services.
Demonstrate a track record of excellence in learning and teaching.
Have played a lead role in developing the curriculum in their current school.
Demonstrate a commitment to using ICT to enhance learning and teaching.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act . The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
