Job Purpose:

Please note that with effect from 1 April , where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30, and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30, per annum / £15.97 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Work directly with young people to deliver a range of programmes, courses and activities within a school ASG area, locality or for a thematic priority

Deliver a high-quality youth work offer that meets young people’s learning and developmental needs and addresses local and national priorities for children and young people.

Work collaboratively with young people to support their personal and social development and wellbeing

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

• An ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with young people
• Being able to communicate clearly and effectively with young people
• An ability to be creative and show initiative
• An ability to empower young people to take responsibility and take ownership for
decision making
• An ability to work with people from different organisations
• An ability to keep young people healthy and safe
• IT skills for keeping records and presenting reports when required
• An ability to be flexible and adapt approaches and styles for different individuals and
groups
