After 1 August , Education Authorities can only appoint the following categories of people as permanent Head Teachers:-
People who have achieved the Standard for Headship. People appointed as permanent Head Teachers of a public school, a grant-aided school or an independent school on or before 1 August .A person who has not yet achieved the Standard for Headship may be appointed as a head teacher, provided the appointment does not exceed 30 months.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Head Teacher to join the team at Southdale Primary School and Early Learning and Childcare (ELC).
The current school role for session -24 is children, organised across 11 classes. There are 55 children in ELC. In addition to class teachers, the management structure currently consists of a Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher and a Principal Teacher. There are 6 Pupil Support Workers (PSWs) deployed at various stages across the school to support whole school working. ELC staffing includes 1 Early Years Officer, 5 Early Years Practitioners and 2 PSWs.
The vision for Southdale Primary School and ELC is to strive to ‘Pave the Path to New Horizons’, be on a joint ‘Journey to Success’, develop ‘Strong Roots in Our Community’ and develop ‘Knowledge and Understanding for the future’.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act . Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.
The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18.
