This is an exciting opportunity for someone who operates at a professional level, is solutions focused and able to motivate others to join the Council’s occupational safety & wellbeing team.

A key part of the role will involve providing health and safety professional advice and assistance to managers at all levels within the Council. The role will also involve working with our trade unions and partner agencies as appropriate.

You will be required to oversee the workload of safety advisors and safety assistants ensuring timeframes are met and quality work is produced. You will also oversee the Council’s wellbeing and health surveillance programme.

The post holder will assist in the progression of all relevant safety and wellbeing strategies and plans as well as promoting a sound safety culture through their work and conduct.

You must have Chartered Membership of IOSH, or have a Health & Safety Qualification at SCQF level 8 or above i.e., National Diploma in Occupational Health or equivalent. You will be an experienced health and safety professional with extended work experience in a full-time health and safety role and hold a flexible and dynamic approach to problem solving.

This level of qualification coupled with excellent communication skills, self-confidence, a progressive outlook, and professional ability would make you our ideal candidate.

You will be required to travel throughout the North Lanarkshire area.

Work Pattern:

Standard 35 hour week.
