About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Media Manager to join our Creative Media Team from 2 nd September 2024. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented, organized and collaborative individual to work within the Operations stream, across all Media asset and data management, workflows and processes.

You will be responsible for all aspects of Media asset management, image rights and permissions, process, IP and data capture, budget management and reporting, supplier liaison, best practice, and future-facing archiving workflows for accessibility and strategic initiatives for ELT. This will include contributing to all aspects of the management of operations within Media, ensuring comprehensive data capture, workload management and effective processes to support operations. In addition, you will collaborate with colleagues, to establish and review all systems, processes and practices related to Media that will facilitate all aspects of the product creation process, making recommendations to promote efficiencies and support digital-first initiatives.

Key duties of the role will include:
  • Advising, tracking and monitoring rights and permissions for Media content.
  • Ensuring all procurement and delivery of assets is documented and delivered to OUP standards and policies including Accessibility, Inclusion, Re-use and Sustainability.
  • Project Management of external suppliers working on rights re-clearance
  • Supplier selection and relationship management for Media content creation and asset management, including negotiating, on-boarding, briefing, workload management, and KPIs
  • Picture research
  • Planning and managing budgets related to assets, data and rights management processes.
  • Creation and management of interactive/complex spreadsheets as required to support Media processes.
  • Reporting on spend and cost savings and implementing processes to maximise efficiency.
  • Continuous improvement and implementation of relevant workflows & processes, including training other team members/cross-functional colleages.
  • Support on project work where appropriate

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You

You'll be adaptable, systematic, and well-organised, with an eye for detail. You'll also have extensive knowledge of international copyright law related to Media assets, and the associated processes for clearing and tracking image rights. You'll be comfortable negotiating and communicating with suppliers, including discussing performance to ensure our quality standards are upheld. You'll have experience of tracking and managing budgets, in order to identify areas where we can maximise cost efficiencies for Media spend.

Essential skills and experience:
  • Previous experience in photography / film / animation/ design / illustration
  • Knowledge of relevant copyright and licensing law. Experience of managing intellectual property
  • Management experience including training and mentoring.
  • Experience in outsourcing, including negotiating fees and managing budgets
  • Experience of professional art editing / art buying (illustration and photography)
  • Experience of change management in a publishing environment.
  • Excellent time management, task prioritizing, and scheduling skills.

Desirable skills and experience:
  • Experience of professional art buying and media production, preferably in a publishing environment.
  • Knowledge of different file types and experience in image manipulation processes
  • Knowledge of all areas of video production, including production and post-production desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe CC, MS Office, After Effects and Video Editing applications.
