About the role:
In the serene setting of a South Powys rural town, you will oversee a Children's Home designed for two. This home provides a nurturing environment for one or two children /adolescents aged 11-18, who face intricate emotional and behavioural challenges
stemming from their early life experiences. Your role will be pivotal in guiding a committed team, dedicated to creating a secure, healthy, and enriching atmosphere where the young residents can thrive, learn, and feel empowered, knowing their voices are valued and influential.
About you:
• Seeking compassionate individuals who can forge meaningful connections with young people for a managerial role, leading by example to instil these core values.
• Candidates should possess the ability to honour the voices of children and young people, advocating for their needs with respect and dignity, and guiding a team to collaborate with various agencies for child advocacy.
• The role involves steering a compact, introspective team that upholds a culture of transparency, mutual trust, and accountability, offering specialised support attuned to the sensitivities of children and young people.
• Applicants must bring a wealth of supervisory or managerial experience from working in residential children's homes, with a dedication to ongoing improvement and the integration of best practices.
• Required qualifications include a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Children and Young People’s Residential Management) for Wales and Northern Ireland, or an equivalent as specified by Social Care Wales.
• The position supports the Strategic Residential Manager and contributes to the Residential programme within Children’s Services, aiming for the best possible outcomes for the children entrusted to our care.
What you will do:
• The Registered Manager is tasked with developing and supervising the Home's operations to align with the Statement of Purpose, ensuring the fulfilment of care-experienced young people's needs and goals.
• Daily management of the Home falls under your purview, including the upkeep of staffing schedules, managing leave and sickness, training, and development overseeing and the rota system, sometimes participating directly.
• You will steer the Home's matching process, coordinating the admission and discharge of young people, aiding in their needs assessment, and promoting their involvement in planning.
• You will be collaborating with the families and carers of the children in the Home to meet the objectives set out in the care and support plans.
• It is your duty to ensure the Home's compliance with best practices and regulations, such as the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014 and the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016, while staying informed about new developments in childcare. Monitor budget and manage
expenses to ensure financial stability of the facility. Leading the team, you will foster and manage activities both within and outside the Home, utilising community resources to support the children's integration and participation, aiming for positive outcomes.
