On Call First Responder

Tiverton High School is part of the Federation of Tiverton Schools, along with Heathcoat Primary School and Rackenford Church of England Primary School. We are an innovative and successful school situated within easy reach of the M5, Exeter, Exmoor and the North Devon coast. We have over 1100 students aged 11-16 on role and have a genuinely comprehensive intake. Our philosophy is grounded on the belief that we are here to help children succeed.
Tiverton High School (THS) is committed to providing students with a holistic education which enables them to get the most out of their academic learning and also prepare them for all aspects of adult life.
We are seeking an On Call First Responder to support learning and teaching within the school. This is an exciting new role which we recognise will evolve over time. You willl work with students who have been removed from the classroom - reset - as part of our behaviour procedure as well as those who are struggling to access the learning environment. Where appropriate the successful candidate will undertake small group interventions and work with students to enhance their engagement and overcome their barriers to accessing the learning. The post holder will play an crucial role in the wider pastoral team.
As the On Call First Responder you will provide support to colleagues in relation to behaviour issues and use strategies to work with students to remove barriers and improve behaviour.
The successful candidate will be resilient and understand the importance of building positive relationships with all stakeholders. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to work pro-actively, identifying hot spots and working with staff and students to resolve issues successfully.
