The job itself

Gully Services is a well-established, highly regarded council highway service with duties tied to the Highways Act 1980.

Highway Services requires an additional staff operative to work from any council depot but will be currently based in the Beverley Depot area.

Working as part of a 2-person team, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving and operating a 26-tonne combination jet vac tanker to service our highway network and other contracts.

This position offers excellent opportunity for the right applicant but to note this is an active role and requires a positive attitude and brings new challenges daily.

We are seeking an operative with experience with HGV Class 2 (LGV C) DRIVER / to also work daily as a GULLY (DRAIN) CLEARING OPERATIVE.

Work will consist of scheduled cleaning of highway gullies, carrying out jetting and general maintenance. Also operating other various HGV Class 2 vehicles and 5 tonne vehicles.

Main observations or criteria to be met are as follows.

1. Able to adhere to existing service start times of 7am Monday – Friday.

2. Current driving licence. (LGV class C) up to 26 tonnes or above.

3. Current Driver CPC.

4. Knowledge of Council's Health & Safety policy.

5. Driving rules relating to Local Government services.

6. Participate in other service area disciplines such as Winter Maintenance, Refuse and other driving roles appropriate to grade point in times of unexpected service pressures.
