Open banking allows the networking of accounts and data across institutions for use by consumers, financial institutions, and third-party service providers.

The Open Banking programme at Nationwide is responsible for delivering the regulatory requirements around access to Nationwide banking data for third parties.

We're looking for a Platform / Infrastructure Engineer to work in the Open Banking engineering team: a high-performing engineering team of platform, DevOps and test engineers as well as API, microservice, database and full-stack developers. Within that team, platform engineers are responsible for developing and maintaining the underlying infrastructure that supports open banking.

What you'll be doing

As an Platform Engineer you will be part of the team that is responsible for the development and day to day running of the OB platform, including configuration, maintenance and upgrades. You will also be involved in incident detection and resolution.

A key element of the role is that you will become part of our Apigee platform team, and will be expected to develop skills and experience in running our Apigee platform. You will be fully supported in this by the Apigee team.
About you

We are looking for someone who has the following:
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of Unix/Linux
  • Understanding and experience of supporting API connectivity, including OAuth2 and mutual authentication
  • Experience supporting components reliant upon a microservices architecture, and an understanding of RESTful principles
  • Working knowledge of automation using Terraform and Ansible
  • Experience working with containerisation technologies such as Kubernetes or OpenShift
