The Opportunity
Salary: £30,296 to £33,024 per annum
Contract Type: Fixed Term or secondment until 31 August 2025
Working Pattern: 37 hours per week
Location: County Hall North, Horsham, working across the North of West Sussex county

We have a new and exciting opportunity to work as part of our Educational Psychology Service supporting the delivery of the Local Authority’s wellbeing strategy.
As an Assistant Psychologist, you will support a highly skilled service, committed to promoting inclusion and delivering positive outcomes for children, young people, and their families. You will have opportunities for working with a range of professional groups, children and young people, parents, and carers.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience applying psychology in a range of educational settings and situations. The Assistant Psychologist role would be particularly suitable for those wishing to pursue a post graduate qualification in Educational Psychology.
You will also have opportunities to work alongside Mental Health Support Team (MHST) members and to undertake some work independently. All work undertaken will be supervised by an Educational Psychologist.
We would love you to join our innovative and creative service; you will provide a valued role within the local authority, focussing on wellbeing and support.
About You
You will need an Honours Degree in Psychology, or a recognised equivalent qualification which
provides Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about promoting mental health and emotional wellbeing with a commitment to inclusive practice for children and young people.
If you are aiming to work towards your Educational Psychology qualification or if you have knowledge of applied psychology, we would love to hear from you.
Please note:
You will need to be able to travel independently to various locations around thecounty which may not be easily accessible by public transport. There is a regular and intrinsic requirement to communicate in English with members of the public.
