Job summary

The NSTA is seeking an Information Management Technician who will report to the NDR Service Manager and will work closely with other team members across the DDaT team. In this role, you will be responsible for information management tasks relating to the operational delivery of the NDR service as well as supporting initiatives which develop the NDR service and the associated data collection, in support of the NSTA�s role in maintaining Energy Security and accelerating the Energy Transition.

Your primary focus will be technology and data related aspects of the delivery of the NDR service. As part of the NDR Team you will work closely with external service providers, and the NSTA teams that deliver the wider NSTA digital estate (Energy Portal, Data Centre, Data Warehouse, website, etc.). Your role will maintain the NDR service in its integration with NSTA Systems of Record, and the timely publication of licence information in line with the relevant standards and regulations.

In addition to developing the NDR and data collection, the NSTA is increasingly working with partners across industry and other public bodies to better integrate sources of information relating to offshore geoscience and engineering. Licence information that was acquired in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons is already contributing to projects and studies in support of offshore wind, carbon storage etc. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with external partners to integrate information systems to enable wider access to information.

Job description

������� Understand the processes by which wells and seismic surveys are captured in the NSTA�s respective Systems of Record, and to be responsible for maintaining equivalent records in the NDR. This will include implementing routine changes from key registers into the NDR and occasionally troubleshooting issues relating to integrated systems and source information.

������� Examples would include maintaining licensee company details, effective dates and statuses in relation to wells and seismic surveys, enabling access to the platform and processing the timely release of data.

������� Working with internal stakeholders to improve Systems of Record and their effective reuse throughout the NSTA�s digital estate.

������� Working with the Digital Services Team to update NSTA Open Data and other relevant services about NDR content, including through automated delivery of spatial data and NDR generated metadata.

������� Assist the Data Compliance Team in their use of NDR functionality to process NDR Data Requests and data quality improvement feedback from NDR users.

������� Work closely with the NDR Service Provider to identify and characterise potential procedural and system developments. Assist in the definition of functional requirements, testing developments and supporting their deployment.

������� Document and maintain operational procedures for activities conducted by the NDR Team in its delivery of the NDR Service.

������� Support the NDR Service Manager in developments to enable the reporting and disclosure of information in relation to changes in policy or regulations, to reflect evolving NSTA and industry requirements in areas such as carbon storage licensing and other energy transition related activities.

������� Support the NDR Service Manager at externally facing NSTA events such as NDR User Group meetings, associated working groups and relevant industry events, involving both preparation and delivery of presentations and participation in discussions.

������� Maintain relationships with counterparts and establish operational interfaces with external stakeholders including the British Geological Survey, Crown Estate Scotland, The Crown Estate etc.

������� Project resource in the delivery of Data Conditioning and system development projects. Supporting the NDR Service Manager in the development of business cases and benefits, contributing to the successful delivery and reporting of projects

������� Stakeholder Communications � preparing routine messaging on operational matters including monthly well and seismic data release bulletins.

Specialist Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Licenses, Memberships or Language

Essential:

� Relevant degree, or demonstrable experience in petrotechnical data management.
� Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, prioritising accuracy, clarity and attention to detail in their work
� Demonstrable understanding of general and industry specific data formats
� Comprehensive understanding of working with the integration of information systems, particularly through common data standards and information protocols.
� Self-motivated, delivery focused able to apply established procedures as well as acting under their own initiative.
� Proficient in meeting deadlines and effectively handling multiple priorities, all while upholding accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
� Experience of Microsoft products with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerBI for analysis and reporting.

Desirable:

� Working knowledge of geodetics and experience in handling geospatial information or GIS
� Able to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
� Able to develop a good general understanding of current and legacy licence information retention and reporting obligations and of how and when the NSTA may disclose licence information to the public.
� Project Management experience: This includes the ability to plan, execute, and monitor records management initiatives, ensuring they are completed within defined timelines.
