Under the command of the Maritime Information Exploitation Group, the Fleet Information Operations Centre (FIOC) UK at RAF Digby is an exemplar of this collaborative and satisfying environment. FIOC UK provides 24/7 liaison and technical support to Royal Navy and other nations� warships deployed globally, as a critical enabler for Navy operations around the world.

Job description
The Battle Watch is a team that through shift working provides a two-person, 24/7 watch, for important communications and electromagnetic activities / electronic warfare support to Royal Navy warships.� The Battle Watch Director (BWD) is a newly established day-working role within FIOC UK, which will serve as the line manager of the civilians and Royal Navy personnel within the Battle Watch Team and oversee their outputs.�As BWD, you will sit alongside four other military mission managers and work directly to the FIOC UK Operations Officer, coordinating across mission outputs to ensure an optimal level of support is provided to deployed units. The core tasks of the BWD will include:
Ensuring that the BWT delivers timely and accurate technical support to Royal Navy platforms deployed on operations, to ensure enhanced situational awareness.Line manages a mix of eleven MOD Civil Servants and Royal Navy Personnel.Provide daily continuity between the Battle Watch Team and FIOC UK operations team.Liaise with key Collaborators across Defence and other government departments.Oversee the management and implementation of new tools, applications, and tradecraft into the BWT.Request for information managerFull training and mentorship will be provided to ensure you are best able to perform the role. As a new role, this provides an exciting opportunity for the new incumbent to work with others in FIOC UK and wider MOD Collaborators to establish this new post and provide best support to global operations.

Person specification
Previous managerial experience and good interpersonal skills are preferable characteristics for this role. It will require a willingness to learn new tools and techniques, driven by an appetite to seek ways to incrementally improve mission output. Previous experience in the electromagnetic activities / electronic warfare field is advantageous. Likewise, the role will include daily management and interaction with Royal Navy personnel, where prior military experience would be beneficial but not essential. This is a unique role and therefore it is expected that a successful applicant will require orientation, internal training, and mentorship to become fully established in the role. This position is also dependent on applicants� achievement of Developed Vetting (DV) and additional security clearances.

An apprenticeship is a combined package of work and training. Through an apprenticeship you will gain professional knowledge, practical experience, and the broader skills required to up skill you in your current role and pave the way for your future career. Most of the training will be �on-the-job�, with the remaining �off-the-job� training often delivered by a training provider. This means minimal disruption and maximum impact.
Professional qualifications can be achieved through an apprenticeship and range from Level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSEs), Level 3 (equivalent to 2 A Levels), and Levels 4 -7, which can give you a foundation degree, a full Bachelor�s degree, or a Master�s degree.
Apprenticeships normally last between 12 months - 3 years, depending on the level of the apprenticeship.
Anyone can undertake an Apprenticeship and everyone, regardless of age, can benefit from developing their skills in an accredited way.
