At Pivot we believe children deserve better. In our academies we teach and support children and young people from Key Stages 2 – 4 who have been excluded from school, for whom mainstream education is simply not working, or those with an EHCP who require a specialist placement. Every day our teams do incredible work, making a huge difference to some complex and challenging children, many of whom come to us with traumatic backgrounds.

Pivot Kirklees (Lower) opened in September 2021, providing additional high-quality education for learners with complex SEMH and other learning needs. We offer a calm and nurturing environment where pupils feel safe to learn and make mistakes. By embedding Zones of Regulation and Emotion Coaching approaches throughout our practice, we support learners to connect and regulate their emotions.

We are currently seeking a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to lead the responsibility for child protection and wider safeguarding within the academy. You will work closely with the Lead Social Worker and DSL, Headteacher, teachers and behaviour lead to provide advice and support to young people, their parents or carer’s and at times to schools and other agencies. As the DSL, you will respond to and address any safeguarding concerns raised including making referrals to statutory agencies.

The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of working contextually to safeguard children and promote wellbeing. We welcome applications from trained Social Workers and the salary will be negotiable for candidates qualified in this area.
