We have a great opportunity for you to join Suffolk County Council's Family Solutions Team as a Consultant Social Worker, based at Landmark House, Ipswich. 


The Family Solutions Team deliver intensive targeted support to families who are experiencing a range of complex needs, for example substance misuse, domestic violence and families who are suffering poor family relationships. They also provide an SOS+ trauma-informed, restorative approach to enable caregivers to recognise, acknowledge and fully understand the outlined worries and support them to make positive changes by building on and empowering them with skills, knowledge, and safety measures.


The Family Solutions team specifically offer an intervention to:

Divert children and young people from entering care (prevent entering care).  Support children to return home following a stay in Emergency Bed Accommodation in which a 10-day period of Child in Care has been agreed as a short break. An immediate 4+ week package will be offered to include a family network meeting (unplanned breakdown). Reunify children from a care setting where it has been assessed as safe to do so (reunification). Stabilise placements by supporting children, young people, and their placement providers where there is a risk of the child entering unregulated placements (restore and prevent).

You will form part of our management team and will:

supervise staff and deputise for the Practice Manager be at the forefront of using the Signs of Safety () development - this is the government-backed, national innovative, strengths-based, safety-organised approach to child protection casework. 

Having fully embedded this into our practice, this is one of the strongest attributes that our service has to offer and what all of our practitioners possess; this will enable you to become a part of a small, select and skilled group of practitioners working in the UK and across the world.
 

You will need

A relevant Social Work qualification. A Social Work England registration (essential). Substantial social work experience of working with children and families. Management and leadership qualification desirable
