Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.

DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Manchester City Council hosts the Regional Strategic Migration Partnership (SMP), on behalf of the North West region. The SMP works to support stakeholders across all sectors that deliver services to migrants arriving in the region.

The SMP delivers projects across a range of thematic workstreams focusing on people in the asylum system, resettled refugees, Ukrainian visa holders, unaccompanied children, Hong Kong British National (Overseas) status holders and resettled Afghan groups. We also have a focus across Migrant Health

The primary purpose of the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Lead is to facilitate the collation of resources, expertise, and coordination of arrangements across the North West. This will involve working with councils to ensure any grant funding outcomes are being delivered, and that ESOL provision across the region meets needs. The postholder will work to map North West ESOL provision and identify solutions to any gaps with providers and commissioners, both in the formal and informal sectors.

Reporting to the Resettlement Lead, this role will deliver across all of the thematic workstreams the SMP covers. This opportunity will bring the postholder into contact with a range of service providers, organisations and partners (across the region and nationally) who are passionate about ESOL provision.

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to improve access to ESOL and work across the North West region to ensure as many people are accessing high-quality ESOL provision as possible.
