The Role

Reporting to a Commercial Practitioner, the Associate Commercial Practitioner is a key part of the category team and has responsibility for supporting the day to day management of Commercial Agreements. This demands a level of customer and supplier relationship management, which are integral parts of the role.

Commercial Directorate overview

Commercial is the largest directorate in CCS and is responsible for the design, development, implementation and management of our commercial agreements, which are used by our customers across the public sector. We have delivered value to the public sector and helped our customers spend more than �34 billion through the agreements we create and enjoy more than � billion in commercial benefits annually through our agreements.

Category management sits at the heart of CCS. We use our deep knowledge and expertise of public sector suppliers, to create market and category strategies. These strategies are used within CCS to create market leading commercial agreements that help shape how common goods and services are bought across the public sector. Our skills are also used in carrying out commercial policy, development of new products and services and supplier relationship management.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our HR & Workforce Category Team which manages over �4bn of Public Sector spend. We are a supportive team of highly-experienced procurement and category management professionals.�

HR and Workforce - Helping the Public Sector with everything from temporary and permanent recruitment, apprenticeship training, learning and development.

Job description

Key Accountabilities:

Implement initiatives to improve and drive customer value, quality of service and deliver commercial benefits (savings)

Comprehend the customer business needs and intent and assess how and where the CCS product portfolio may support their business - in collaboration with internal CCS teams

Create clear and compelling cases for customers to adopt our Commercial Agreements and the associated value delivered to them

Implement engagement plans for communications with current and new customers to establish and enact retention and growth of spend through Commercial Agreements - in collaboration with internal CCS teams

Oversee commercial agreements through all stages of their life cycle; from launch through to expiry and/or replacement

Manage/support the delivery of procurement/sourcing projects to quality and time, including, the preparation and delivery of supplier and customer meetings, dealing with day to day supplier and customer enquiries, maintenance of various performance logs, and risk management

Supplier Management, including the development of supplier plans for growth, conducting supplier reviews of sales and compliance to the Terms and Conditions and Key Performance Indicators, cost reduction, risk management and timely provision of management information

Work with suppliers, customers and colleagues to identify, implement and report on commercial benefits (savings)

Assist the preparation of documents ( specifications, award criteria, pricing models) for colleagues to go to market for new/renewed Commercial Agreements

Develop a good knowledge of Commercial Agreements, sufficient to act as a source of insight and advice

Demonstrate commercial acumen to examine data and make informed commercial results in an often complex commercial environment

Actively eliciting,evaluating and consolidating information and presenting such with supporting evidence in writing or orally; heading discussions or obtaining information from difficult or uncooperative sources

Taking forward customer or supplier related issues

Helping resolve technical or specialist problems

Aptitude to oversee discrete units under supervision but using initiative to respond to minor day-to-day changes in priorities and Inputting to unit business plans
