Job summary

As a Technical Architect, you will be helping to define the DBS Technology strategy and work across the DBS technology estate, providing technical guidance and architectural support. You will develop your knowledge based on technical solutions that are identified as best practice and compliant with the appropriate design patterns.

Job description

The Technical Architect will support information architecture, act as a consultant, and support the Lead Technical Architect in the creation of the architecture visions and strategies. You will help ensure that this vision aligns to and facilitates the delivery of the DBS Business Strategy, deploying all necessary tools and techniques accordingly, as well as identifying and articulating technology led transformation opportunities. The Technical Architect works within the Architecture team to take an early view of how they can identify and implement the best solutions to deliver business change and achieve Departmental objectives. The Technical Architect will take responsibility for the assurance of a service and know what risks need to be managed as well as ensure designs and patterns are aligned to the architecture principles. The Technical Architect will be comfortable working within agile and waterfall methodologies and will have a working knowledge of TOGAF or similar frameworks.
These activities will be relevant to the DBS digital modernisation plans, the wider technology transformation delivery roadmap, and the day-to-day technical sustainment work needed to maintain the estate.

� � �Facilitate the evaluation and selection of Infrastructure components, software technologies and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations.
� � �Assist with the development of end-to-end outline infrastructure solution design across the project lifecycle.
� � �Collaborating with managers to determine business-specific application needs.
� � �Helping to define strategies for application retirement�
� � �Ability to define / architect M365 Solutions
� � �Support the creation and deployment within integration architecture and document interfaces required.
� � �Experience with MuleSoft or any other integration as a service tool�
� � �Good working knowledge of Solution Architecture�
� � �Creating business architecture models to reflect the organization's strategies and goals and creating and implementing business visions and goals
� � �Suggesting ideas to reduce costs in IT and business leadership

You will work in 3 dimensions: knowing relevant historical context and future impact; understanding how current work fits in broader contexts and strategies; and looking for deeper underlying problems and opportunities.

Person specification

Essential Criteria:

� � �A proven track record of using IS and IT for commercial benefit�
� � �Good experience of industry standard Enterprise Architecture frameworks�
� � �Experience of working in agile teams supporting rapid solution delivery in cloud-based environments
� � �Experience of building solutions that adhere to relevant security standards.
� � �Experience of producing high quality and proportionate artifacts in the application and data domains , catalogues, high level designs, system use case diagrams, data models etc.
� � �Experience of implementing and managing Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) solutions , Oracle CRM, Siebel Case Management, IBM InfoSphere as well as bespoke developments in proprietary and open-source programming frameworks , NodeJS, Java, Ruby, PHP, Python etc

�SC Security Clearance (All applicants will be required to obtain SC security clearance before being formally offered the role, if not already held)

Desirable Criteria:

� � �A good understanding of industry best practice in the use of IS/IT enabled business change
� � �A sound knowledge and application of architecture in a government or regulated environment.
� � �Experience in Agile development
� � �Experience of the ArchiMate notation
� � �Experience of using an architecture repository and architecture modeling tools to ensure the control and benefit maximization of the application and data architectures
� � �Experience across physical and cloud-based architectures and across Windows and UNIX/LINUX platforms and of server and desktop virtualization, Infrastructure as Code, Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
