Job Description
£32, - £48,
Fixed Term until 10/08/
Part Time - 11.5 hours per week
Currently, Midlothian has 6 secondary schools, 32 primary schools (19 of which have nurseries) and 2 stand alone nursery schools. Our special school, Saltersgate, provides support for children with a range of physical, social, emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. The schools range in size from our smallest primary school with around 20 children to our largest secondary with over pupils. We have a diverse range of school catchments, from rural to urban settings. We are fortunate to have a growing number of new build schools, with 15 of our primary schools and 2 secondary having been built within the last 10 years and several new builds planned.
St Mary’s is looking for a part time teacher to support learning at First and Second Level, particularly in writing.
St Mary’s is situated in a central position in Bonnyrigg. As a denominational, co-educational school, our catchment area is fairly wide, taking in part of Newtongrange, Bonnyrigg, Burnbrae, Poltonhall, Lasswade Straiton and Loanhead. We currently have children in seven classes from P1-P7. We also have a nursery class, with 40 full time spaces for 3 and 4 year old children.
At St Mary’s, we aim to provide a happy, healthy, safe, supportive and stimulating learning environment, promoting achievement for all and celebrating success. We are particularly proud of our school ethos, which values the holistic development of our learners in partnership with parents, and enjoy positive relationships across the Learning Community, based on respect for all, which reinforces the Gospel message to “treat others as you would like to be treated”. All staff work together to provide an education which is both enjoyable and challenging and which meets the needs of all of our pupils.
This post will involve supporting small groups of children in key areas of literacy at First and Second Level. It will involve working collaboratively with class teachers as well as preparation of lessons and resources for assigned groups of children.
All applications will be considered. The successful candidate would be required to apply for Church Approval – see . This requires a statement of willingness to uphold and develop the school vision, values and aims in line with the Catholic ethos of the school. Please contact the HT for further information or guidance about this process.
Interview Date - Monday 23rd September
