Foster Care Connect are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated qualified social worker to join our team as a Supervising Social Worker. This is an extremely rewarding role, which can make a real and significant difference to care experienced children and young people in our society.

This position involves working alongside foster carers to provide support and guidance to achieve the best outcomes for the children and young people they care for, working within the required Scottish legislative and policy context.

The post offers the opportunity to join a small, supportive, and developing organisation. The team are enthusiastic and committed to enhancing skills and knowledge in the family placement sector to promote best practice.

You will be responsible for promoting a high quality of therapeutic approaches to care provided by foster carers. You will provide regular support and supervision to a number of foster carers to assess, monitor and identify interventions required. Working as part of a team within Foster Care Connect as well as the wider “Team Around the Child’ in line with Getting it Right for Every Child. You will receive regular supervision and be required to report to the Lead for Social Work.

Foster Care Connect’s ideal new team member should have the following experiences and qualities:

Essential:

· Degree in Social Work or relevant qualification in the field, such as DipSW, CSS, CQS.

· Registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (ongoing registration will be paid by FCC).

· Proactive team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to work flexibly and independently.

· Good working knowledge of child protection procedures and legislation as applied to looked after children in Scotland.

· A good working knowledge and understanding of the issues facing parents and foster carers.

· A good working knowledge of child development and trauma and already have a proven track record of working with and on behalf of children, respecting and maintaining their individuality and their rights.

· An understanding of the National Fostering Standards and The Promise.

· Previous experience of working with children and families, family placement team or a residential childcare setting.

· A full driving license and use of car for business (travel will be required).

Foster Care Connect is an independent fostering agency established in . Our aim is to provide safe and loving home-based care for children and young people in Scotland who are not able to live with their own family. As a Supervising Social Worker with Foster Care Connect, you will become part of a team who have access to:

· Caseload

As an agency we know that having the time to provide the right support in a timely manner improves outcomes for children and young people. For that reason, you will have a protected caseload of no more than ten full time fostering families if you are a full time Supervising Social Worker.

· Hybrid working

We have introduced hybrid working based on trust and flexibility. We request your attendance in the office on a Tuesday as a minimum, with flexibility around other days, ensuring that you are connected with the team in the office for a minimum of 50% of your working week. At other times, as long as business needs are met, you will have flexibility in relation to where you work.

· Dedicated Learning and Development Team

Our dedicated trainers provide therapeutic, trauma informed training opportunities for all foster carers affording you time to concentrate on your caseload.

· Annual Leave entitlement

You will be entitled to 33 days annual leave, which includes 8 public holidays (4 of which can be taken at any time and 4 taken at Christmas and New Year when office is closed). Annual Leave entitlement increases by 1 day for each completed year of service up to 5 years.

· Out of Hours on call

A rota that works flexibly within the team to allow you to protect your own time. A set fee for being on call with any call out paid in remuneration, time or time off at a later date. You will be supported by more senior members of the team.
