Bristol, United Kingdom Homes England Full time

Job summary

12 Months FTC

Vacancy close date 15th August

Interviews commencing 19th August.

A bit about the role...

Working as a Senior Manager in the Strategic Partnerships team in Affordable Housing Grants, you will play a key role securing the delivery of new affordable homes under the 2021-26 Affordable Homes programme (AHP) that will deliver up to 130,000 homes.

Job description

You will have responsibility for a portfolio of Strategic Partners delivering new affordable homes under the 2021-26 AHP across England, working with them collaboratively to support delivery of their affordable housing development pipelines.

You will be joining a collaborative, highly skilled and experienced team who work together to ensure delivery targets are met. The team is committed to taking a pragmatic, innovative and creative approach to delivery and we value diversity in experience and perspective to foster good decision making and problem solving.

This is a rare chance to shape the future of affordable housing delivery in a fast growing, national organisation with real social purpose. Working with key stakeholders and a professional affordable housing team you will ensure efficient, consistent and effective resolution of delivery challenges and will identify opportunities that will help increase affordable housing supply.

The Senior Manager will also support wider team operational activities, working closely with other teams within Affordable Housing Grants and across Homes England. There are some exciting projects to get involved in and this is an excellent opportunity to balance day to day delivery whilst implementing innovative solutions to unlock affordable housing supply.

This opportunity is being advertised as 12 month FT due to cover of mat leave and secondments within the team. There is an expectation that there will be an opportunity to apply for a permanent role in the future, subject to a further recruitment process.

Person specification

Ideally, we are looking for an individual with experience of affordable housing delivery as part of a development team in a Registered Provider, developer or local authority setting. You will have a good understanding of the development process from land acquisition through to planning approval, construction and scheme completion. You will also have experience of delivering or managing grant funded affordable housing projects and/or programmes and will be experienced in contract management.

You will be an enthusiastic and proactive individual who is a team player, working collaboratively within the team, across Homes England and with external partners to build relationships whilst working at pace.

This role is a great opportunity if you are looking to get a much wider and strategic perspective of affordable housing delivery at a national level, drawing on your own experience to identify new investment opportunities and new ways of unlocking delivery.

You'll be comfortable supporting the Head of Strategic Partnerships with complex affordable housing issues to increase affordable housing supply.

Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isnt always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as an affordable housing team. You will enjoy working in an innovative and engaging way and be able to negotiate, persuade and influence.

As an affordable housing professional youll understand how to manage colleagues and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.

As part of the job role there is an expectation that some travel may be needed to attend internal meetings and external meetings with partners.
