Atkinson Secure Children's Home is a secure environment with excellent in-house facilities and has an overall rating ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED. The Atkinson School is currently rated “Good” by OFSTED.
Our approach is to provide exceptional parenting to the young people within our care, looking beyond their behaviours to go the extra mile for them and we do this in a safe and therapeutic environment. Atkinson cares for young people aged (10-17yrs) with emotional and behavioural difficulties who have been granted a secure accommodation order by the courts. The young people we care for are often in crisis and require intensive support, intervention, and physical intervention at a last resort, while working on their, education and training in vocational skills and life skills.
We are currently looking to employ an outstanding teacher to deliver meaningful education to our students. We are open to a range subject but the ability to offer Maths, English and ICT would be advantageous. This is a three day a week contract, the days are negotiable. Please note, term dates will vary from other schools. The successful candidate will be resilient and will have the ability to engage our students, who despite being very capable can equally be very challenging. They will be adaptable and able to deliver meaningful learning to all abilities. Lessons are delivered both 1:1 and in small groups.
Job Purpose
The following is an outline of the range of duties that can be expected of a teacher who can deliver outstanding lessons in the specific area of their expertise. It is not a comprehensive or exclusive list and duties may be varied from time to time, according to the needs of the school and the students, which do not change the general character of the job or the level of responsibility entailed.
This post is being created to deliver educational programmes as an integral part of our curriculum.
Main duties and responsibilities
• To support the school goal of raising standards by providing a high-quality curriculums for the students.
• To be responsible for the planning and implementation of education in a way that involves fully the people with whom you work and is based on your role as a member of the school.
• To deliver personalised learning opportunities within the context of Atkinson’s personalised learning programme.
• To conform to, activity commit to and promote Atkinson’s values and vision both with internal and external ‘customers’ when using any communication media including telephone, email and face to face.
• To lead and manage all aspects of the development and delivery of educational programmes appropriate to students of all ages and abilities. Group members may have complex educational needs, exhibiting barriers to learning which may include social and emotional issues, anger management and aggressive behaviour, poor levels of literacy and numeracy.
