Senior Production Editor

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a unique opportunity to work with both digital and print products across primary, secondary and adult sectors, providing a variety of work and cross-functional collaboration. This role sits within a supportive, collaborative team in Publishing & Content Operations with a flexible attitude to working. For the right candidate we will also consider a less senior position, please indicate this on your application.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan, schedule, and manage Content Production stages of multi-component projects, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, ensuring timely delivery of products within the agreed scope and cost.
- Select, brief and oversee the work of external suppliers according to the requirements of the project.
- Supply forecasts for allocated projects, and manage allocated budget for external supplier, communicating any over/underspend to senior editorial colleagues.
- Prepare print and digital content for detailed check of styling, copy-editing and proofreading, and briefing and checking of digital assets.
- Perform detailed quality assurance of print and digital components.
- Maintain clear communication within the cross-functional team and appropriate colleagues.
- Train and mentor Production Editors and other editorial colleagues on systems, processes, workflows and tools, to ensure effective performance.
- Identify continuous improvement and innovation opportunities and work with colleagues to ensure that best practice, new processes, workflows, systems and lessons learned are implemented effectively.
Please note this is a FTC: Start October 2024 (due to end in August 2025).
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office
About You
You'll be a collaborative team player with the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams working on complex multi-component projects. To be successful you'll also have:
Essential:
- Editorial experience of copy-editing, proofreading and editing print and digital components, in a publishing environment.
- Project management experience, with the ability to prioritise conflicting deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Interest or background in English Language Teaching (ELT) publishing.
Desirable:
- Experience of budget management.
- Experience of commissioning and managing the work of external suppliers.
- Experience and/or comfortable with training/mentoring others.
