Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. �Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within CIO as a Senior Data Architect. The role�sits within the CIO Data Team and is responsible for managing and continually improving all aspects of DIO data architecture, including establishing an enterprise data architecture capability. They will also lead the Data Quality and Data Architecture teams by providing the necessary guidance and support to ensure the team�s continued success. The role supports the business by working with internal and external stakeholders across the organisation to:

Continuously improve of all aspects of DIO�s data architecture in support of the business intelligence programme, enabling the business to fulfil its information requirements.Continue to embed concepts of master data management across the DIO, ensuring the continued success of the �locations as a service� programme.Support senior managers in the migration to cloud infrastructure, ensuring processes and documentation are updated accordingly and any risks are mitigated effectively.

Person specification

Essential experience of:

Experience in Data Management activities (including Data Quality) within a large organisationLateral thinking to problem solvingTranslating technical concepts to a wider business audienceExposure to a Data Warehouse environment

Essential technical skills required:

Complex multi-layered SQLData Modelling (Information Modelling, UML or similar)Data AnalysisExposure to ETL tools (Pentaho or similar)

Desirable technical skills of:

Cloud (AWS, Azure, Oracle or similar)Relevant Certifications (TOGAF, Cloud) - not essential

Benefits

Alongside your salary of �43,080, Ministry of Defence contributes �11,631 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.�

This post is eligible for a Digital Skills Allowance, therefore the maximum salary for this role has the potential of up to �58,660 per annum. Eligibility for this allowance will be assessed at interview against the 4 core technical skills only and reviewed annually in line with departmental policy�
