Job description
The team provide governance advice and guidance to stakeholders in support of data management along with managing the data held within master systems of record to enable the organisation to have trust in the data used in decision making by our customers. The data programme for DIO is owned and maintained by the Data Governance team, on behalf of the business, to prioritise the data DIO collects, in alignment with the DIO strategic direction.�
The team is responsible for ensuring the data held within the master systems of record is maintained, proactively identifying continuous improvement activity required to improve the quality and completeness of information and data.�
The Data Exploitation (DEx) Data Governance team leads on the delivery of data in support of projects for Defence customers. The Data Governance Team provides specialist support to data projects including engagement with cross government projects. The team provides specialist independent data assurance and SME advice on data standards along with processing changes to the master systems of record through the BAU change process. The team are also responsible for owning and maintaining the data programme in support of the key strategic objectives.
Person specification
Supporting the Deputy Head Data Governance, the Assistant Head Data Governance will:
Provide visible leadership and support the DH with the strategic direction within the team to successfully deliver DEx outputs.Lead and deliver the Data programme.Lead and develop a central data capability providing a service to the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) in accordance with Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) principles.Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Data within DIO.Identify opportunities for new and innovative data products.Lead a multidisciplinary team ensuring business priorities are met through the flexible deployment of resources. Work alongside stakeholders within the DDaT function, ensuring the data for all DEx products is available for exploitation and the programmes are aligned to ensure delivery of agreed products.Review processes and working practices, identifying risks to the delivery of the programme.Promote collaborative working practices with all team members, customers and partners in support of the data governance programme, supporting the embedment of Data Owners and Data Stewards across the organisation and wider MOD; influencing a change of culture to recognise data as an asset.Essential experience / knowledge

Alongside your salary of �57,670, Ministry of Defence contributes �15,570 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
