The job itself

Required from September 2024 the East Riding Schools' Music Service seeks a part-time (up to 2.5 days per week) upper strings teacher. The ability to also teach lower strings would be desirable.

The successful candidate will be required to teach individual, small group and possibly some whole class. A passion for widening access to all styles of music for all children, an excellent track record and the ability to motivate young people to achieve their potential are essential qualities for this post.

The successful candidate will be expected to be available to teach across the county and can travel between schools - mileage will be paid.

The service supports a large range of high quality musical extra-curricular activities including choirs, bands, orchestras, ensembles, and workshop/masterclass opportunities. The successful candidate may have the opportunity to be involved. This would involve evening and weekend working (paid as additional hours).

Both experienced, new teachers and unqualified teachers are welcome to apply for this post. Applicants must have a current driving licence. An allowance is paid to assist in the running of a car. Schools’ Music Service staff are employed by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council on School Teachers Pay and Conditions. The appointment will be made up to a maximum of point 6 on the main pay scale.
