The post is based offshore on the FPF1 on a 2/3 rotation

JOB TITLE: Electrical Technician

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensuring the Power Generation and Power Distribution systems are in a reliable condition. Maintaining them, safeguarding the availability and operational condition of the electrical equipment so that production targets can be achieved. Acts as an Authorised Electrical Person under the Electricity & Noise Regulations.
  • Ensure switching of LV in accordance with operational procedures and legal requirements.
  • Monitors the performance and serviceability of all plant electrical equipment.
  • Complete routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, and installation of electrical and electronic equipment defined to standards.
  • Maintain electrical drawings and single line diagrams as-built to identify modifications made to the
  • equipment.
  • Implement a planned maintenance programme, meeting statutory and vendor requirements, ensuring that all work is recorded accurately.
  • Maintain comprehensive and detailed handover logs.
  • Ensure all electrical supplies are permanently available, including uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), for life support and safety equipment.
  • Carry out electrical isolation / de-isolation of plant.
  • Carry out assignment of power distribution.
  • Co-ordinate with operations personnel for Start-up and Shut-down of electrical equipment.
  • Ensure work carried out by contract personnel conforms to statutory regulations and their equipment is safe and suitable for use.
  • Ensure authorised Permit to Work Systems are in place before commencement of work and are cleared on completion before reinstatement.
  • Ensure all electrical equipment is located in hazardous areas has correct ex rating for the zone
  • installed/maintained in accordance with BS EN 60079 parts 10,14,17 and 19.
  • Fully understand and comply with the requirements of the installation Safety Case.
  • Adopting safe-working practices at all times and, where appropriate, in accordance with the
  • Companys Operating Procedures.
  • IEE Wiring Regs, 17 th Edition
  • Electricity at Work Regs
  • CompEx Hazardous Areas
  • HV/LV Switching
  • Portable Appliance Testing
  • Fire Team Course
  • Perform in an emergency role as defined by the Companys Emergency Response Procedures Manual
  • and Installation Bill.

SAFETY:
  • To be familiar with and have an understanding of the Company Health, Safety and Environmental Policies.

TECHNICAL INTEGRITY:
  • Ability to deploy engineering & operational standards / procedures that meet both regulatory and safety standards.
  • Ability to identify, investigate, audit and control technical change (within limit of discipline knowledge)

QUALITY ASSURANCE:
  • Ability to undertake work to meet acceptance criteria with respect to safety, technical integrity, cost and schedule.

COMMUNICATION:
  • Clear, fluent and expressive use of verbal and written language to convey information and ideas.
  • Requirement to raise any non conformance to supervisor in timely fashion

PLANNING:
  • Awareness of project / planning engineers activities.
  • Input into project /asset plans as required.

COST/BUDGET:
  • Awareness of completing all works within budget and schedule.
  • TEAMWORK/LEADERSHIP:
  • Ability to provide guidance and motivation to co-workers

Essential Qualifications and skills
  • Educated to ONC or equivalent standard and completion of a recognised apprenticeship scheme.
  • Must be an authorised electrician for LV Switching and Maintenance.
