About the apprenticeship

Duties

1. Attend formal and informal training sessions in the outdoor field provided by both internal and external experienced instructors.
2. Contribute on the development of a personal training plan.
3. Work as part of the Glan-llyn Activities Department team on a day-to-day basis, with responsibility for assisting and leading various camp activity sessions.
4. Create session plans to align with activity targets / objectives
5. Maintain camp equipment, follow health and safety rules and camp policies at all times.
6. Ensure the camp activity sessions run smoothly and are of high quality.
7. The Apprentice is expected to take over the camp staff rota which involves working on certain weekends and unsociable hours. A flexible hours system is implemented at the camp, where any extra hours worked can be reclaimed.
8. Many of the general duties of the camp fall to the members of the activities department. These will include cleaning and maintaining various areas and equipment within the camp and providing assistance to other sections of the camp as needed.
9. Due to the nature of the camp, applicants will have to respond to various calls and demands from time to time.

Requirements

Qualifications

noneI. It will be necessary to be able to speak and write Welsh in order to achieve this job, and dedicated learners of Welsh are also welcome.
II. In order to gain the qualifications, the candidate is expected to practice outside the normal hours of the camp. Training is given on all the various activities of the camp.
III. A number of relevant training courses will be required for on-the-job development
IV. The applicant must be 18 years of age or older.

Desireable

I. Experience of working with children and young people would be advantageous
II. Experience in leading activities will be of advantage
III. Understanding of the aim and objectives of Urdd Gobaith Cymru

Skills
