Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years, HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. In addition to the projects 'clean energy' benefits, HPC will create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.
The Quality Improvement Engineer role supports the Quality Improvement Manager with the day-to-day management of the Quality Improvement Team , in addition to performing other Quality Improvement (QI) activities. They will form part of a team with the primary role of improving quality on site and site Right First Time (RFT). This is achieved by ensuring that the contracted Quality Assurance measures in place are adhered to.
This is to ensure products and/or services are provided Right First Time (RFT) in line with the HPC Project Goals, and in support of Right First Time (RFT), ensure non-conforming items are identified on site, trends are monitored and pinpointed / tailored support is provided to underperforming teams / areas
The post holder will work in close collaboration with all other site functions and the supply chain to ensure that project quality is delivered consistently (safely, efficiently and right first time) compliant with the scope of work and quality arrangements - creating an upward trend in RFT.
C urrent responsibilities include:
- Identifying and investigating improvement opportunities - e.g., technical research, data analysis and business case development.
- Site Quality Reporting - e.g., distribution of daily non-conformance reports, management and maintenance of site quality dashboards.
- Contribution to improvement projects - e.g., setting up workshops, data analysis and trials.
- Support to Quality Improvement Manager - e.g., Delivering presentations, reporting to senior leadership.
Here's what you'll need:
- Strong stakeholder management skills and political awareness within a large client organisation.
- Conflict resolution involving multiple stakeholders.
- Facilitation - e.g., experience in leading workshops and brainstorming sessions.
- Data Analysis Skills - use of statistical models & data visualisations.
- Needs to be able to travel down to client site (Somerset Energy Innovation Centre, Bridgwater) 2-3 times a week.
